Cash Discount Program
You have probably heard the phrase from another business owner. This page is what a cash discount program actually is, in plain words — where the cost of taking a card sits, what a customer sees at the counter, and what is worth checking before you sign up for one.

The Idea, In One Paragraph
Every business that takes cards pays something to do it. The difference between providers is usually where that cost comes from. On a conventional account, it is taken out of your revenue: you make a sale, a slice of it goes to the processing side, and a percentage of every card transaction comes off what you keep.
A cash discount program handles it differently. The card cost is absorbed through the program itself rather than deducted from your revenue, which is why a business running one can say its card processing fees come to 0% — not because the card networks have stopped charging anything, but because the cost is not being taken out of the business's takings the way it was.
That is the whole idea. It is not a trick and it is not a discount the customer has to claim. It is a structure for where the cost sits, and it suits businesses that want a predictable picture of what they keep on a sale rather than one that shrinks every time somebody taps a card.
- On a conventional account, the card cost comes out of your revenue
- With Cash Discount, the cost is handled through the program instead
- With Cash Discount, your card processing fees come to 0%

What It Looks Like At The Counter
This is the part owners care about most, because it happens in front of the customer. A cash discount program is posted at the point of sale — the same way a business might post that it adds a charge for cards — so the pricing is visible rather than buried.
In practice a customer paying by card sees the total on the terminal, exactly as they do anywhere else. Nobody is asked to do anything unusual, nobody is quizzed about how they are paying, and the transaction is as quick as it is on any other terminal. The difference sits in the posting and in where the cost lands, not in the customer's experience of paying.
The part worth getting right is how it is explained at your counter. Staff need to be able to answer the question in one sentence if a customer asks, and we walk your team through that when we set you up, so nobody is put on the spot during a busy shift.

What To Check Before Adopting One
A cash discount program is not right for every business, and an owner who does not understand what they are signing is the one who ends up unhappy. These are the things worth asking any provider about, us included.
- How the program is posted at the point of sale, and what it looks like to a customer
- Exactly what the business pays on a month that looks like a real month — every charge, not a headline
- How cash payments are handled, since the program is about the difference between the two
- What the agreement actually says about length and about leaving early
- How it works for orders where the card is not present — phone orders, online orders, delivery
- What support looks like when something goes wrong on a busy day

Getting Set Up With One
If a cash discount program sounds like the right structure for your business, the setup is the same as any other account: a short application, a conversation about your counter, and equipment that arrives configured for the way you work.
The right place to start is with your current processing statement, if you have one. We go through it with you line by line and show you what the program would look like against the numbers you are actually paying — in writing, in plain language, before anything changes.
And the same offer applies as everywhere else on this site: equipment is zero cost with a business account. Two things, both straightforward.
